I have been tuned into the CW television show Gossip Girl since it first came out. It is really a fun show in my opinion, and it keeps getting better and better. Gossip Girl easily hooks you in to the lives of Manhattan's Upper East Side. It's worth watching. I recently researched the cast of Gossip Girl for this article and found a lot of interesting facts on each of the main stars in the TV show Gossip Girl. Now, I am sharing it with you. Below, you will find details on Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and Taylor Momsen. Leighton Meester Leighton Marissa Claire Meester was born in Marco Island, Florida, in April 9, 1986. Her parent's Connie and Doug, both were involved in a drug smuggling ring (marijuana) where they hauled from Jamaica to the U.S. They were both convicted for their involvement. Her mother Connie, was released on bail, and it is then that she became pregnant with Leighton. Connie's pregnancy was spent in a Texas state prison, and Leighton was born in a Texas hospital. Connie was allowed to live with her baby infant in a half-way house, for three months, before she was sentenced to ten years of prison time. Leighton, just a newborn went to live with a relative. Connie was released after serving sixteen months of her sentence. Immediately she resumed role of mother to Leighton. Leighton and Connie remain close. Leighton, has been active in the entertainment industry since 1999. She is of course, best known for her role as Blair Waldorf, on Gossip Girl. When Leighton was just 11 years old, she began working as a model with Wilhelmina, where she was booked for a Ralph Lauren campaign. Other roles that she's been in include shows 24, 7th Heaven, Numb3rs, Entourage, Hangman's Curse, Flourish, Veronica Mars, and House. She has also guest starred on CSI: Miami, and a recurring role on Shark, the court drama. Leighton hopes to release her debut album this Spring. Ed Westwick Edward "Ed" Westwick was born June 27, 1987, in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. He is an English actor best known for his bad boy role as Chuch Bass, on Gossip Girl. He is also in an English rock band called The Filthy Youth. He is the youngest of three sons. He attended St Ippolyts Church of England Primary School at the Barclay School. When he made his first film, Breaking and Entering, he was stilla student at North Hertforshire College. He has also appeared in a British television series called Doctors, Casualty, and Afterlife. His film credits include Children of Men, Son of Rambow, and Breaking and Entering. He is going to appear in the sequel Donnie Darko, and 100 Feet (horror). His mother is an educational psychologist, and his father Peter is a business lecturer. When Ed is filming Gossip Girl, he resides in Chelsea, New York, with co-star Chance Crawford. When he is not working he lives in Hertfordshire, just outside of London. He was nominated in 2008 for two Teen Choice Awards. He won the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Villain, for his part in Gossip Girl. He was also nominated for another Teen Show Award for Choice TV Star Male for his work in Gossip Girl. Blake Christina Lively Blakewas born August 25, 1987, in Tarzana, California. She has been an active in the industry since 1998. She currently plays Serena van der Woodsen on the hit television, Gossip Girl. Other films that she has appeared in includes Accepted, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Ms. Lively, is the youngest of five children by actors Ernie and Elaine Lively. Blake's sisters include Lori and Robyn, her two brothers are Jason and Eric. Her parents and siblings have all been in the entertainment industry. Her parents both taught acting classes, so Blake would often be with them during the classes. Her brother-in-law is Bart Johnson, who starred in High School Musical. Blake was homeschooled and one of her homeschool classmates was her future boyfriend, Penn Badgley. Later she attended public school enrolling in Burbank High School. In public school she took part in the In Sync choir, and she was also a cheerleader. Penn Dayton Badgley was born November 1, 1986, in Baltimore, Maryland. This American actor is best known for his role as Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl. He has had success on film, television, and as a model and spokesperson. His early days were spent between Richmond, Virginia, Seattle, and Washington. He attended Charles Wright Academy in Washington, where he was invloced in the Seattle Children's Theatre. He soon began doing voice-overs for radio stations. When he was just 11 years old, Penn, moved to Hollywood, with his mother. It is then that he began pursuing as acting career. He recorded a pop single in 1998, according to Blake Lively. At the young age of 14, he took a Proficiency Exam and began attending Santa Monica College. At the age of 17, he had already completed two years of college credits. He was accepted into the University of Southern California, as a junior, but was deferred admission into USC, due to contractual obligations. Penn Badley's first credit was for voice work in 1999, in Mario Golf 64, the video game. In 2000, he did more voice work on Mario Tennis 64. His very first acting scene and credit was on Will & Grace. After that he appeared in shows like Daddio, What I like About You, and The Brothers Garcia. He also appeared in John Tucker Must Die, where he played the starring role. The film grossed $14.3 million dollars, in it's first week. By November 2, the film had made over $41 million dollars. He also got roles in The Young and the Restless, Do OVer, The Mountain, Drive-Thru, The Bedford Diaries, before finding the role of Dan in Gossip Girl. He is also said to be the star in the 2008 remake of the 1987 thriller film, The Stepfather. Chace Crawford plays the role of Nate Archibald, on the CW series Gossip Girl. Though he grew up in Dallas and Plano, he was born in Lubbock, Texas, on July 15, 1985. His birth name is Christopher Chance Crawford. His mother is a teacher and father a dermatologist. He has a younger sister names Candice, who studies broadcast journalism. In Dallas he worked a s model. After High School he moved to Malbiu, to attend Pepperdine University. In college he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He was unsure of his career path, considering advertising, and business communications. Halfway through hsi second year of college, his mother convinced him to pursue an acting career. To this day he credits her for initiating this move. Later, he was signed by the first talent agent that interviewed him. He then, began full-time study of acting. His parents are Chris and Dana Crawford. His sister won the Miss Missouri USA title in 2008. He played footbal and golf in high school. In 2006, Chance appeared in The Covenant and the Lifetime TV movie Long Lost Son. In 2008, he was in the movie Loaded. He also got invoved in the movie The Haunting og Molly Hartley. He has made special guest appearances on Family Guy (the episoe "The Former Life of Brain"). In 2008, he also won the Choice TV Breakout Star Male at the Teen Choice Awards. He is currently said to be focused entirely on acting. Who knows where you might see him next. Taylor Michel Momsen This child actress and model was born July 26, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri. She has been active in the entertainment industry since 1998 to present day! She currently plays Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl. Her parents are Colleete and Micheal Momsen. They live in Potomac, Maryland. She has a younger sister names Sloan, who is also an actress. Taylor, began acting professionally at 3 years old! She scored a national commercials for Shake 'N Bake. After that she achieved a role in The Prophet's Game. She also starred in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, where she played the role of Cindy Lou, in 2000. Two years down the road and she was in two more motion pictures, including Hansel & Gretel, and Spy kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams. She did not receive any more roles for three years, until she scored a lead role in the never-aired The WB series Misconceptions. Miss Momsen also recorded "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "One Small Voice" featuring Myra & Camille Winbush for School's Out Christmas. in 2006, she appeared in the movie Saving Shiloh and in the 2007 picture, Underdog.
