About 'university of miami florida football'|Ted Lilly Fan Club Hot Stove Continues To Burn: Ted Lilly Officially Turns Down University of Florida Football Coaching Gig
If there is one thing I know all too well as a fan of the Miami Hurricanes it is that they are going to have the NCAA hammer come down on their football program in a very harsh way. This is of course due to the former booster who has made some pretty serious allegations about past players and coaches at The U, which has prompted a two year investigation. With so much uncertainly coming, can the Canes weather the NCAA storm ahead? Self-Bans Enough? In an attempt to lessen the blow from the NCAA the Miami Hurricanes have self-imposed a bowl ban for the 2012 season, as they did in the 2011 season. While this move should count for something in my eyes, in the end it is all up to the NCAA and they might not care one bit that the university took such measures. What Will Come? I think the worst thing about this whole scenario is not knowing what might come. Should the Canes get hit with similar sanctions as the Penn State football team just got hit with then a potential disaster in the waiting is in the works. Penn State players were allowed to leave for another program and did not have to sit out the usually mandatory year, which prompted plenty of players to transfer. If the NCAA rules the same with the Hurricanes, then the team could potentially lose some very good young talent. Play as Good as Gold-en For the Hurricanes to weather what is to come a lot will ultimately depend on the continued ability of head coach Al Golden to lead. In his first two seasons I have witnessed a coach that is so charismatic that players and other coaches are simply drawn to him. He has been able to rally his team in some very bad times, and hopefully he will be able to do the same thing when the worst hits. A Matter of time While I am a huge fan of the Canes, I am also a realistic one. I know that they face some trying times in the near future, but I view the whole situation as a positive in progress. While I think it will take some time, I do feel that the Miami Hurricanes will rise once again and get back to the upper echelon of college football. How long is yet to be seen, but if they can stick together as a team, then I think the Canes will be just fine, despite the upcoming NCAA storm. Jimmy Collins has been a loyal fan of "The U" since he was a child attending games at the original Orange Bowl. Still a resident of South Florida, he attends numerous Miami Hurricanes games each season and enjoys writing about NCAA Football and the Miami Hurricanes in particular.
